The kids at Bowers-Rodgers Children’s Home will be using recently donated toiletries for years. Team A.C.E. from this year's Leadership Greenwood class distributed donation boxes to businesses in the area to collect donations for the children. The donations were delivered to Bowers-Rodgers on Valentine’s Day. Donors were generous and the amount of donated toiletries exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Team A.C.E. is a group of seven professionals within this year’s Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce Leadership Greenwood group. A.C.E. stands for Accelerating Community Engagement. The members include Shameka Brown, Mindy Scott, Olivia Rushton, Lana Botts, John Moore, Mark Danas, and Leslie Fisk. The group hoped to spread awareness about the work that Bowers-Rodgers does in the community, and to provide opportunities for people to assist in its mission.
Examples of some of the items donated include toothbrushes, deodorant, and soap. These essential hygiene items allow Bowers Rodgers to redirect future donations to other programs. For more information about Bowers-Rodgers, visit https://www.bowers-rodgers.org/.
Ti Barnes, Executive director of Bowers-Rodgers, said, “The Bowers-Rodgers Children’s Home served 90 different children last year. Anytime we’re able to have the community step in and assist us with meeting needs of our youth, it’s a tremendous benefit. We are very appreciative of Leadership Greenwood’s Team ACE and their efforts to bridge the gaps we sometimes face.” Team A.C.E. and Bowers-Rodgers wish to thank the following businesses and organization for donating or displaying boxes for donations:
