The Greenwood County public school system is divided into three districts: Greenwood District 50, Ware Shoals District 51 and Ninety Six District 52. Each is fully accredited by the State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Greenwood also has several independent schools with college preparatory curriculums, such as Greenwood Christian School and Cambridge Academy.
Lander University, a four year accredited institution of higher learning offers a wide variety of degree programs including a nationally recognized four-year nursing program, an outstanding Education curriculum and the Lander University- Clemson University Engineering Dual-Degree Program. Piedmont Technical College offers a multitude of Associate and Continuing Education programs. For the finest education in the state, you need only look in Greenwood.
Several standing committees of the Chamber of Commerce, including the HR Roundtable, CEO Roundtable, and the Greenwood Partnership Alliance have been instrumental in implementing curriculums such as the Manufacturing Certification Program, the Student Apprentice Program, HOSTS (Helping One Student to Succeed), and others. The Chamber of Commerce continues to partner today with the three school districts as well as the local higher education institutions, Lander University and Piedmont Technical College.
